LUNDERLAND ORGANIC HEMP OIL
The oil is obtained from the first mechanical pressing without additional heat (cold pressing). It is filtered but not refined or deodorized.
Hemp oil is a high-quality, herbal source of alpha-Linolenic acid. It can either be used with fish oils (salmon or omega oil) or as a substitute for them.
While fish oils generally contain high levels of EPA and DHA, hemp oil contains a great deal of alpha- and gamma-Linolenic acid (the precursor to omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids).
Since it contains a lot of these polyunsaturated fatty acids, hemp oil is a suitable and healthy supplement to both BARF diets and meat-based wet-food diets, or it can be added to dry food. Vegetarian-fed animals will also benefit from the oil, however, which is a great supply of essential fatty acids. Though crucial, these essential acids can’t be produced by your pet’s body, and therefore must be supplied regularly through the right diet.
Unlike other vegetable oils with high levels of omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids (such as linseed or borage oil), hemp oil naturally contains a lot of vitamin E, which acts as a natural antioxidant and thereby increases the oil’s stability.
In addition, hemp is an undemanding and robust crop. The harvest is usually large, even without the aid of fertilizers and pesticides, which means that the hemp oil only needs to be filtered. Further refinement is usually unnecessary, as so few harmful substances are used during production.
In addition to being a source of fatty acids, hemp oil also functions as an anti-inflammatory and anti-itch agent, due to the alpha- and gamma-Linolenic acid, prostaglandin E1 and stearic acid it contains. For this reason, it may be a beneficial supplement for animals with allergies or chronic inflammation.
Hemp oil is even said to possess antiseizure properties.
At the same time, hemp oil will also positively influence the appearance of your pet’s skin and the growth of its coat.
Puppies need alpha-Linolenic acid for the development of their brain. Even during pregnancy and suckling, administering hemp oil to the mother can be useful.
